Lake Guerrero in Mexico is known worldwide for the number of record-class large mouth bass consistently caught here. The incredible scenery and thousands of acres of flooded timber is heaven on earth for any angler. A voluntary catch and release program now observed by most fishermen has made this great lake even better.
Lake Guerrero is still one of the best Mexico bass fishing lakes available for catching trophy black bass. Guerrero is also the closest to the border. The drive takes approximately 3 1/2 hours from Harlingen, Texas. If you charter or fly your own plane, Ciudad Victoria has a major airport located a short 45 minutes from the lake.
Lake Guerrero was stocked with Florida bass approximately 18 years ago. Periodically they are still being put in the lake. The size and number of fish being caught have fluctuated up and down over the years. This present year shows that they are on the upward spiral again after the slow pattern over the last couple years. More bass are being taken and of course, an occasional "hog" is being caught as well. Fishing the spring spawn is a favorite time of the year for avid bass fisherman to come down to Lake Guerrero. The spawn runs January - March.
