Lake Arivaca is located in southern Arizona just 60 miles south of Tucson, a scenic drive along the old Ruby Road, one of the most scenic drives in the Nogales District. In 1999 there was a total fish kill at this lake due to oxygen depletion, but officials have indeed gotten the fish numbers back up by stocking the lake with largemouth bass, sunfish and channel catfish. Camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities are allowed at this lake. This is a primitive park with the only facilities provided being a toilet and a primitive boat ramp.
The parking area is gravel and dirt access. Lake Arivaca is 90 acres of 28 feett deep fresh water, perfect for water skiing, boating, and fishing, especially fly rodders. Anyone interested in fishing Arivaca Lake should consult with local guides and resources before heading out. The local guides know the best current locations, baits and fishing methods. Only boats powered by single electric trolling motors are permitted on the lake. They are a good way to explore the narrow inlets that branch off the main body of water.
