Lake Mission Viejo in Orange, California For Fishing & Camping

Just got back from fishing for two days on LMV and had a great time. Water temp 63. The fish are spawning, but the bigger fish are harder to find than previous years. This trip was only for big fish and thats what we spent two days doing, lots of looking. The algae bloom set in early and the visibility is way down making the sight fishing very hard. We did see several double digit bass, but none of the bigger ones were cooperating. I did catch a couple of nice trout and one decent largemouth. The catfish out there and everything else for that matter grow very big, I saw what had to be close to a 100lb blue catfish in the shallows. It looked like a mini submarine and had to shake my head to make sure I wasnt seeing things. Maybe next time.
