Alamo Lake is approximately 17,000 surface acres with a maximum depth of 80 feet. Located on the Bill Williams River where the Big Sandy River and Santa Maria River come together, it was created with the completion of Alamo Dam in 1968. The Army Corps of Engineers designed the earthen dam primarily for flood control. During flood events, the lake basin is capable of catching large amounts of water in a relatively short time. Alamo lake has been recorded rising 11 vertical feet in one night during periods of heavy rain.
Unusually high water flow amounts during past decades had increased the depth and size of the reservoir to unexpected levels, giving birth to recreational and fishing possibilities. Since then, the lake has been stocked with numerous fish species, including largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, bullhead, redear sunfish, green sunfish, bluegill and carp. The lake has been the location of at least one Arizona fishing record and is one of the state’s best fishing holes. Fishing tournaments are common at Alamo Lake.
Alamo Lake State Park is one of Arizona's best kept secrets. The stark desert beauty is reflected off the water. Cacti dot the mountainous landscape that surround the lake. Nestled in the Bill Williams River Valley away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Alamo Lake State Park offers outdoor fun, premier bass fishing, rest and relaxation. For nature lovers, spring rains bring an abundance of wild flowers and the lake environment attracts a variety of wildlife year round, including bald and golden eagles, waterfowl, foxes, coyotes, mule deer and wild burros.

Catch of the Day
What a great day on the water.... over 40 fish in the boat from 0500 hours till 1330hours. Caught most of the fish on skinny dippers in the Lime Ice color along with a dozen or more on Phenix vibe Jigs in the Blue Shad color with a little Skinny dipper for a trailer. Also Threw a Senko in the Natural shad color when the wind didnt blow and managed to get 7 fish. We targeted main lake points with with brush and deep water near by. Good luck out there and keep your line wet.. If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call down at the shop or stop in.. 602-993-1139. -Kyle-
