Saltwater Fishing

Being accessible only by air or boat makes the Central Coast a very unique and stunningly beautiful place to fish.

There are only a handful of rivers on the BC coast that sustain an early run of Chinook (King) Salmon. Our season begins in May, which brings us a strong run of Chinooks heading for the Bella Coola and Dean Rivers. Our camp record for this early fishery is 61 lbs. Because of the remoteness of Ocean Falls, we are virtually the only ones on the water this time of year!

Mid June is the start of our summer runs. All 5 species of Pacific salmon, (Chinook, Coho, Pink, Chum and Sockeye) start arriving and provide endless hook-ups until the middle of September when we close for the season.

Fishing is fun for everyone. For the novice, our guides provide excellent coaching until you are an expert! For the experienced, a challenge second to none. You can either bait your own hook or have your guide do it for you. They will help you as little or as much as you want them to- it's your choice.

Imagine catching 20 lb. plus Coho with no one else around. This happens often in our Fall season!

These large schools of salmon returning year after year, reflect why we have some of the most generous possession limits in BC. (8 salmon in possession….4 Chinook, and 4 Coho, or all 8 Coho).

Bottom fishing, is possibly the best anywhere. Ling cod to 50 lbs. Red Snapper and many more species of Rock fish. Halibut fishing is consistent all summer. These prehistoric delicacies from the deep average 25 – 50 lbs.  Our largest halibut last summer was 160 lbs. Now that’s a lot of fish and chips!

• Coho (Silvers) Salmon daily limit 4 - possession limit 8
• Pink Salmon daily limit 4 - possession limit 8
• Chum Salmon daily limit 4 - possession limit 8
• Halibut daily limit 2 - possession limit 3
• Lingcod daily limit 3 - possession limit 6

The combined daily limit for all species of salmon is 4 - possession limit 8
